Back in 2016, the order for a giant Steel Stack for the Amager Heating plant was commissioned to us. The stack is a part of a larger plant which among other things consists of a fluegas treatment system, delivered by LAB.
The steel stacks diameter is not less than 6.5m wide, so the sections was sailed from Esbjerg Harbor to Copenhagen, where they were raised to the installation site.
The installation of the first four sections went as planned and the last sections was assembled in May 2018 which formed the 150 meters high steel stack up in the air and therefore stands as the largest Steel stack in Northern Europe!
The chimney were built at a height of 150 meters, so that the environmental quality requirements are met. The pipe itself is also manufactured in a corrosion resistant material, stainless steel. The actual mounting of this steel chimney is part of a major project to help Copenhagen become the world’s first carbon neutral capital in 2025.
This video shows how the steel stack is constructed.
The steel stack consist of 10 sections, and has a height of 150 meters.
The outer diameters are 6500mm and the inner diameters are 4900mm
